Health Services

Chronic Illness Care

Health Services provides medical care, education and support for students with chronic illnesses with a philosophy of helping individuals to self-manage while providing education and support so they can continue classes and daily activities and manage the changing emotions and symptoms which may be brought about by chronic illness. Education and information is free to the UNH community. Counseling is free to students who have paid the health fee and for a fee for students who have not paid the health fee.

Body Image Education and Counseling

UNH students come in all different sizes, shapes and colors. Learning to love the body you were born with is an important step in taking care of yourself. Wellness educators/counselors and nutrition counselors are available for one-on-one counseling to help you to enhance your body image. Education and information is available for free to the UNH community. Counseling is available at no cost to students who have paid their health fee and at a cost for students who have not paid their health fee.

Allergy and Immunization Services

Allergy shots and routine immunizations are available to faculty, staff, and students and all employees for a fee.  Students must bring their orders and serum to the first appointment and may store their serum at Health Services.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Education and Counseling

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Education and Counseling Program aims to provide accurate and current information to the UNH Community about alcohol and other drugs. The program uncovers the full range of risks associated with high risk alcohol use including the legal, academic, social and physical impacts.  Services are available for those who self-refer and for those who are mandated to participate and are led by wellness educators/counselors. Education and information are free for the UNH community.

Primary Care Services

Primary care services (examples  inlcude respiratory illnesse, all kinds of injuries, mental health concerns, intestinal disorders, dermatologic and much more) are offered at no additional cost to students who have paid the health fee. Primary care visits are available to students who have not paid the health fee for a fee. Acute care medical services are available to all employees for a fee. Additionall fees apply for laboratory, injections, pharmacy, and radiology services.

Yoga

Free yoga classes are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays in the MUB from 12-1pm.

Anger Management

Health Services provides self-referred or mandated anger management counseling. It is available at no additional cost to self-referring students who have paid their health fee. There is a $50 charge for students who are mandated to participate. A resource library is available at health services and online resources are also available.

Medical Acupuncture

Health Services provides acupuncture for students for a cost. Ear acupuncture is performed for smoking cessation and stress reduction and body acupuncture is provided for acute and chronic muscular pain and chronic headaches.

Immediate Health Information and Education

Students can call Triage Nurse for self-care information. Also available is an online resource guide that provides information to students for making better health care decisions is also available on the Health Services website. The triage nurse is available at no cost to students who have paid the health fee, and for a fee for students who have not paid the health fee. Online resources are free for the UNH Community.

After Hours Medical Care

During the academic year, Heath Services has an agreement with Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, in Dover, to provide after-hours care for students whose medical needs cannot wait for Health Services to reopen.  Under this agreement, students pay co-payments based upon the level of care they recieve. After Hours Care is available to students who have paid the health fee.
