Toss It Or Save It?
By: Haeley Stewart
For my junior year, I decided to make the move to an off campus apartment instead of staying in the dorms. Other than having my own bedroom, the biggest perk is that I have a full kitchen now. No more two foot mini-fridge and nonexistent freezer. The transition from having a meal plan to cooking for yourself can be challenging, but it is certainly fun to learn how to cook. However there are some downsides as well, like the fruit flies that seem to never go away or last week's dinner rotting in your fridge.

Eat Smart for Finals!
By: Haeley Stewart
It's officially finals time! We're at the last stretch of our semester, but for most of us, the hardest part of our semester. I don't know whose idea it was to make the hardest part of our year the part where we are all mentally exhausted, but we just need to man up and get it done.

Have You Seen UNH's Wildcat Plate?
By: Haeley Stewart
Everyone has heard of the dreaded "Freshman 15," however for me, it was more like the freshman 20. Coming to UNH as a freshman and having an unlimited dining plan made it super easy for me to eat WAY to much in our dining halls. Don't get me wrong, there are PLENTY of healthy choices to be made while eating on campus, but I just couldn't get over the delicious desert bar or the french fries that seemed to be there every single day.

Fight Fatigue!
By: Haeley Stewart
A college student’s life is a constant struggle between balancing class, studying, work, exams, internships, any type of social life and much more. Even reading that list is tiring. Trying to find time to simply fall sleep can even feel like a monumental challenge. With that being said, fatigue for a college student is almost expected, in my opinion.

Couch to 5K
By: Haeley Stewart
There is rarely a time that I go through campus and don't see someone running. It is a really easy way to get in some exercise and bypass the crazy rush at the gym. But, for some of us who aren't that great at running or have injuries or even just get bored doing it, there is hope. I have really bad shin splints and want to be able to run long distances and do races, but my shins hold me back. So, when I heard about the Couch to 5k app, I bought it instantly. It is a 30 minute run that you do three times a week. During the run you alternate between walking and running.

Why Students Should Care About Health Care Costs
By: Haeley Stewart
One of the biggest complaints about organic food is that it is too expensive.
Well, in many cases that is in fact true. However, organic food may cost more, but that's because it is worth more.
One way I like to rationalize paying more for organic food is to think about all the good things it does for my health and the earth, and how the extra bucks really are worth it in the long run. Usually I run this list over and over in my head as I near the checkout aisles...

Get a Handle on Stress
By: Haeley Stewart
After our first week of classes I think it is safe to say that some of us are overwhelmed by our class schedules, afraid of future homework and project loads and are already stressing for the exams that span our whole semester. Instead of making yourself crazy, engage in some of these stress reducing behaviors.
1. Get some Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's: College students are notorious for staying up all night "cramming" and then waking up for class four hours later. In order to function properly, it is best to get the recommended 7 to 10 hours worth of sleep.

Let's Hit the Rec
By: Haeley Stewart
With school starting back up for the year, it is almost a guarantee that the Hamel Rec Center will be full of students trying to stay physically active. Before you hit the Rec Center this semester, why not find out about all of the group classes and opportunities available to you besides the gym itself? One of the favorites among students, myself included, are the FREE group aerobics classes taught by experienced instructors. The Rec Center has everything from zumba and cycling to yoga and boxing.
