Do you want to connect with other UNH students and help discover your inner self? UNH created the empowering Be Fierce and Fabulous Women’s Group in 2007, and since then has successfully helped encourage and inspire over 100 individuals. College is a big transition in life, and can cause many mixed emotions for students. This motivational group serves the purpose of improving the confidence of young women and leads them on their way toward living a fulfilling life.

Students Promoting Information on Nutrition, also known as SPIN, is a great organization on campus to get involved in that is run by UNH Health Services. These mentors are student volunteers that get trained to counsel and educate those who are looking to for more knowledge and assistance in the field of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. These students receive intensive training and education by trained professionals in the field, and are well equipped to help others with questions regarding nutrition.

Many students only think about going to the Health Services when they are sick enough to miss class, myself included, but this year Health Services wants to really promote personal well-being. The other day, the Director of Education & Promotion, Kathleen Grace-Bishop, came to speak to a student group that I am involved in. She spoke about what Health Services has to offer, and I was completely blown away. She emphasized that they have recently hired two new massage therapists to keep up with the student demand, and now individual meditation lessons are offered.

UNH Health Services does a great job spreading sexual health and awareness across campus. Starting March 20th until May 15th sexual health and information tables can be found in the MUB Food Court from 11:45-1:15 every Tuesday.

Usually when I think of Health Services on campus I think of the place I would go if I’m feeling sick and need medical care or a prescription.  However, after visiting the UNH Health Services website I realized how many other helpful programs and services they provide for the UNH community.  One service they provide is massage therapy.

Both traditional and hot stone massages are available by licensed massage therapists at Health Services right here on campus. Massages are available to ALL UNH Students, faculty, and staff members. As an out-of-state student, whenever that time for the tuition bill comes around, I often find myself bewildered as to how much money we pay. Where is all this money going? What are we paying for?
