Sharon Demers
Director of Human Resources Operations

Sharon Demers

What makes you passionate about your work and/or life?

"I enjoy Human Resources because it is dealing with individuals. I like the challenge of trying to bring about resolution to a human relations issue and to provide some options for them and to have someone walk away with the information they need to make a good decision. I'm very passionate about the fact that I can bring some value, and I feel I bring value everyday to the job.

I am passionate about my beliefs. I believe that there is a Creator. I believe that you are accountable to the Creator and exist because of that Creator and that belief influences every aspect of my life and the decisions I make. I truly feel that that is what keeps me joyful and futuristic."

What are the joys and challenges of being a woman?

"The greatest joy that I had was the birth of my son. So I think the greatest joy in being a woman is to be able to give birth and influence and be a positive role model for future generations. The challenge is being a good influence and role model in a world that provides a lot of competing negative influence and negative role models. For me it's a challenge to do the best you can in that regard and hope for the best and let go."

What hopes and dreams do you have for others?

"I would hope that we, as a society, don’t lose sight of the importance of the family arrangement to help the society. I see an increase in violence in society, abuse in society, disrespect in society, and unfortunately, I think it is a mirror of what is happening in the family as a whole."

How have you balanced your life?

"It's important to recognize that life is short and you need to enjoy it. If you're not balanced in your work life and your home life and leave some time to relax and unwind, you cannot be productive in other aspects of your life. I allow myself enough time to unwind and schedule in some down time."
