Role on Campus
Suzanne is responsible for nutrition education programming on campus. She accomplishes this with the help of two peer education groups:
SPIN members educate students on campus about nutrition. For example, they might do this by coordinating a cooking class series for students, or providing nutrition information for students working out at the Campus Recreation Center. ECM’s provide support to students on campus struggling with body image issues or disordered eating behaviors. Suzanne also supervises a dietetic intern and a field experience student each semester.
In 2003 she co-authored a cookbook:
GOOD EATS, Quick and Easy Food for Busy College Students.
Every semester, she organizes events including the Mind/Body Dialogues, a monologue-based play performed by UNH students. Other important events include Love EveryBody Day, No DietDay and Fat Talk Free week.
In 2009, Suzanne was a guest on New Hampshire Public Radio. The topic was body image, a topic that she is most passionate about.
Suzanne is an excellent resource for students inquiring about the field of nutrition as well as students looking for nutrition information. She is often interviewed by The New Hampshire and other media sources to get an expert's opinion about current nutrition topics.
Little Known Facts About Suzanne:
Before Suzanne became a resident of New Hampshire, she grew up in Long Island, NY. She came to New Hampshire to attend UNH as an undergraduate major in nutrition. Her nutrition career includes working as a clinical dietitian, counseling patients in our own private practice and consulting with a sports medicine practice. Later she focused her energy on raising her family and returned to UNH as a nutrition educator in 2001. She lives in the New Hampshire seacoast with her husband, and their yellow lab Manny. She has four grown children.
