How we approach our work with students:
With an open heart and open mind, I affirm the dignity and worth of all people. I'm here in hopes of providing you with an opportunity and a safe space for self exploration and growth. Wellness counseling and education is about helping students learn ways in which to lead healthy lives based on your unique strengths and according to your philosophy of life. At times this can be difficult for a person to do, especially if you are unsure as to what your philosophy of life is! With patience, some risk taking and a supportive and encouraging relationship, I believe that a person can learn to make healthy choices and have a fulfilling life.
Why a student wants to see us:
- If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, and are looking to learn relaxation techniques as well as explore the underpinnings of your stress.
- If you are experiencing tension in your personal relationships and want to find ways to resolve your internal issues and conflicts.
- If you want to learn ways to deal with your anxiety around test taking and academic assignments.
- If you are interested in obtaining a deeper understanding of what your philosophy of life is, and/or if you have concerns around your personal faith or spirituality.
- If you would like to learn more about the Expressive Arts Therapies and how they can be helpful to you (don’t worry, no past art experience is necessary).
- If you are looking for counseling, support and education around alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
