About Us
Members of the Office of Health Education and Promotion, Health Services are dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of the university community. We believe in living healthy, fulfilling lives through the connection of mind, body and spirit. Our staff works with individuals in an affirming and positive way to educate and counsel students on the various components of the wellness wheel.
Health Counseling/Education Services
Individual counseling/education sessions are available to address the following issues:
- Anger management
- Alcohol and/or other drugs
- Communication skills
- Eating Concerns
- Emotional health
- Gender identity
- Nutrition
- Stress management
- Sleep
- Sexual health
- Sexual orientation
- Tobacco cessation
We are also available to speak with you if you are concernd about another’s use of alcohol and/or other drugs or eating concerns.
Mandated/Referred Education/Counseling
We also provide education and counseling to students who have been referral/mandated by the UNH Office of Conduct and Mediation or legal court systems for alcohol and/or other drug violations and anger management education/counseling. You must call (603)862-3823 to make an appointment. You may not make a mandated counseling appointment online.
We do not see students who are seeking education/counseling for DWIs or DUIs. Please call (603) 862-3823 for a referral to an outside agency.
Counseling Center
You may find your counseling needs are better served at the Counseling Center in Smith Hall. The Counseling Center is the primary mental health facility on campus staffed by psychologist. They provide individual and group counseling and therapy for students who may be experiencing situational or ongoing psychological difficulties. Concerns students often address through the counseling center include; educational/academic goals, depression, anxiety, grief, eating disorders, substance abuse, sexual/physical/emotional abuse, self harm/self mutilation, sexual identity/orientation issues, traumatic situations or relationship issues. They also provide assistance for emotional and behavioral crisis/emergencies. For additional information or an appointment, please call (603) 862-2090.
