A Hunger So Wide & So Deep: Eating Problems and Recovery from a Multicultural Perspective
Wednesday, February 27th
7:00 p.m.
Theater II, MUB
- Do you struggle with your weight and your relationship to your body?
- Do you feel confused, ashamed or anxious about your body?
- Would you like to develop a sane and healthy connection to eating?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions come to the lecture on eating problems—compulsive eating, bulimia, anorexia, offered by activist and scholar Becky Thompson. Thompson’s will discuss how trauma as well as race, sexuality, class and gender shape people’s relationships to their bodies and appetites.
Co-sponsored by Eating Concerns Mentors (ECMs), Health Services, Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. Rho Associate Chapter, Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA), President's Commission on the Status of Women, SHARPP (Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program), Women’s Studies Program and the Queer Studies Program.
