From Health Services Executive Director Regarding Durham Campus Flu Outbreak and Recommendations for Care

The UNH community is currently experiencing a flu outbreak. Since the flu, whether seasonal or H1N1, is caused by a virus there is no need for treatment beyond basic self-care and symptom relief. In most cases of the flu it is not necessary or recommended for individuals to come to Health Services.

Those who should seek care are students with chronic medical conditions and students experiencing severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, pain or pressure in chest or abdomen, recurring dizziness, confusion, severe or persistent vomiting or if flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever or worse cough. Call Health Services (603) 862-2856, if open and (603) 862-1530 if closed (after-hours).

Please read the attached flu information sheet and visit the Health Services web site: www.unh.edu/health-services for more information.
