What is this research study?
This is the second year UNH is using MyStudentBody as an online tool to provide alcohol education to first-year students before coming to campus. The study is designed to look at the effectiveness of the program in two areas: knowledge learned and sustained behavioral change. The study is completely anonymous. The company removes all personal information before reporting back to UNH. Responses from the "rate myself" section and the "post test" are provided in the aggregate (in group only). Every student must complete the program but you have the choice whether or not to participate in the study. Choose the appropriate school code. The education program is exactly the same.
What if I am outside of the ages 17 – 24?
If you are not between the ages of 17 – 24, please e-mail melissa.nicholson@unh.edu and we will remove you from the list./
What if I already completed this course (or a similar one) at UNH or another school?
Please e-mail melissa.nicholson@unh.edu and provide the following information:
- Your full name (first and last)
- Name of the school
- Date of completion (approximate)
- Name of program completed
How do I know if I am completed?
The program consists of a pre-test, a series of sections within the first year student unit, and a post-test. You must complete all of the required sections before you will be prompted to take the post-test. Once you complete the post-test with an 80% or better, you will be sent to a "Certificate of Completion." You do not need to send this to anyone but may want to print it off for your own records.
How will UNH know I have completed the program?
Once you see a "Certificate of Completion," the program sends UNH your name on a completion list. If you do not use the name we have on our records, we will be able to search for you using your UNH e-mail account.
What if I failed the post-test?
You will get 20 tries to get an 80% or better on the post-test. Each time you take the test and score below an 80% you will be directed back to the first-year unit. It is suggested that you re-read through any areas that you may have questioned during the the post test and try again. If you use all 20 attempts you should call the Office of Health Education and Promotion, Health Services at (603) 862–3823 to schedule an appointment to complete the course with a Wellness Educator/Counselor.
