Apply to be an Eating Concerns Mentor

Apply to be a mentorEating Concerns Mentors (ECM’s) are trained UNH students who are interested in supporting their peers at UNH who are struggling with eating concerns and/or body image issues or who are concerned about someone else. ECMs can also provide resources and referrals.

ECMs also design and implement educational programming, including Fat Talk Free Week (October) and Eating Concerns Awareness Week (February).

Students educating and supporting other students is based on the belief that students are more receptive and learn better from informed and educated peers. Acquiring knowledge, skills and confidence helps ECM’s enhance their own knowledge, attitudes and understanding related to disordered eating and body image concerns.

New ECMs will complete extensive training during the fall semester. Once trained, students will be available to provide support, as needed and also be involved in campus-wide events designed to promote positive body image.

If you have questions, please contact Nutrition Educator, Maria Caplan by email or by calling (603) 862-3823.
