2006 Pancake Breakfast

14th Annual Pancake Breakfast May 5, 2006

The 14th Annual Pancake Breakfast offered attendees a morning of inspiration and laughter. Toni Bisconti opened the program. President Hart delivered the Kidder Awards. Co-Chairs of the GLBT Commission, Robin Hackett and Judy Spiller presented the Pink Triangle Awards, and the audience heard words of wisdom from both honored Guest, Mo Baxley, Executive Director of the NH Freedom to Marry Coalition and Rev. Pat Bumgardner, Senior Pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church of NYC were the highlights. Both speakers are well-known advocates for social justice who are working for marriage equality. Both stressed that the GLBTQI community is not seeking some kind of special exception – only acceptance and mutual respect.

The Kidder Awards were given to the following individuals and groups as a tribute to those whose outstanding efforts foster understanding and advance opportunities for those whose sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression differ from the majority in our culture: Kinesiology Department faculty member, Heather Barber; staff members of the Financial Aid Office, graduate student, Heather Fauteux, and undergrad Annie Medeiros.

Pink Triangle Awards were given to the community's heroes and leaders who have contributed in the making of a more equitable and inclusive campus. Winners of the Pink Triangle Awards were as follows: Theater Department faculty member David J. Kaye; Affirmative Action Director, Donna Marie Sorrentino; Counseling Staff member, Joe Olenick; student Blaine Butler; student Meghann McCluskey; Psychology Department faculty member Toni Bisconti; and community member, Mo Baxley.
