Declaring a Major in Geography
Geography is an open major. There is no waiting list, no application form, and no deadlines. Changing your major to Geography simply involves obtaining certain signatures and transferring your files. You should schedule a meeting with Blake Gumprecht, the department chair, to discuss your plans and the program requirements.
To declare a major in Geography you must complete the yellow Change of Program Form, which you can get from the department of your current major or from the dean's office. Your current advisor should sign this form and give you your academic file.
If you are changing majors within the College of Liberal Arts, bring the Change of Program form and file the Department of Geography, where your new advisor will sign the form and keep the file. The Change of Program form will then go to the office of the Dean of Liberal Arts.
If you are transferring from WSBE please go to the University Advising Office (WSBE). If you are transferring from CEPS, HHS, or LSA, please go to your current dean's office. Then bring the Change of Program form along with your advising file to the Department of Geography, where your new advisor will sign the form and keep the file. The Change of Program form will then go to office of the Dean of Liberal Arts.
