Welcome to the University of New Hampshire's Fencing Club Website!
The current form of the University of New Hampshires Fencing Club began in the late 1980s. Ned Woody, a student at UNH, and Paul Poulos, coach, formed the club as it is now. The club practiced on the stage in New Hampshire Hall, where there wasnt enough room for a single strip to be placed diagonally. The club has been a part of New England Collegiate fencing ever since, competing in the New England Championships yearly.
In the 1990s the Northeast Fencing Conference was founded by Elliot Lilien, Syd Fadner and Jon Moss to integrate clubs and varsity collegiate programs with the purpose of growing collegiate fencing in New England. UNH fencing has competed in this league since its inception.
In 2002, Jon Moss's and Bruce Capin's, from the University of Florida, dream of having a collegiate club championship came to fruition with the first collegiate Club Championship and the founding of the USACFC.
