Emerson National Hunger Fellowship

Description: 20 participants chosen annually.Emerson Fellows are placed for the first five months with community-based organizations all over the country.  Each host organization identifies specific goals and outcomes for the Fellows and provides the supervision and resources necessary to accomplish them. Field site partner organizations include:grassroots organizing groupsfood bankseconomic development agenciescity governmentsfood policy councilslocal advocacy organizations.In mid-February, the Fellows regroup in Washington, D.C. to debrief and share their field experiences and participate in an extensive policy training to learn about national anti-hunger and anti-poverty policy work.Fellows then work in nonprofit organizations and government agencies working on hunger and poverty policies at the national level. During their time in D.C., Fellows complete research, outreach, advocacy, and public education projects that support national policy initiatives. They also meet regularly for professional development trainings.

Eligibility: One year internship to learn about fighting hunger and poverty with a tight-knit community of emerging leaders. Emerson Hunger Fellows shape and implement local anti-hunger programs all over the U.S., and then research and support national policy initiatives in Washington, D.C. Applications are encouraged from candidates reflecting diverse personal, educational, cultural, and experiential backgrounds

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Program) RISE (Research Internship Summer Experience)

Description: Summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. Students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 1.5 to 3 months during the summer. RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. The working language will be English.

Value: Monthly scholarship of 650 Euro for a period of 8-12 weeks (pro-rated depending on length of stay). Health insurance and accident and personal/private liability insurance and an allowance of 160 Euro for travel within Germany.
Eligibility: Undergraduates in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering or closely related field Knowledge of German differs from strong to none at all.

Golden Key International Honors Society Scholarships

Description: Golden Key believes in rewarding its members for their academic, leadership and service excellence. To this end, the Society offers more than $600,000 (USD) in member-only scholarships and awards annually. Golden Key's scholarship and awards are administered by Golden Key headquarters and require a formal application. Each scholarship has a unique submission deadline and application process. Impartial selection committees composed of educators specializing in fields specific to each scholarship program will select the winners. In selecting the winners, the committees will consider a number of factors related directly to each program. These factors are outlined in each scholarship listing. The decisions of the selection committees are final and are not subject to appeal or review. Applicants must adhere to the stated deadlines - no extensions will be granted.

Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

Description: The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides a stipend for a graduating college senior to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world. The award allows recipients to engage in a meaningful public service activity for one year before proceeding on to graduate school or a career.

Eligibility: Must be graduating from U.S. college or university, but do not have to be a U.S. citizen; graduating seniors

Value: Monthly scholarship of € 250 for MA-students and graduates and € 500 for PhD students. The host companies will contribute an additional stipend of € 500 per month. Furthermore, each scholarship holder will receive a lump sum of € 800 for travel expenses

Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship

Description: Fellowships for exceptional young men and women committed to teaching science and mathematics in United States high schools.  
Deadline: January
Value: $150,000 over the course of the five-year Fellowship. Fellows receive tuition assistance while participating in a teacher credentialing program, monthly stipends, and grants for professional development and teaching materials.
Eligibility: KSTF Science and Mathematics Teaching Fellows are chosen from among individuals who have earned or are in the process of earning a degree in a discipline related to the science or math subject(s) they intend to teach. Fellowships are intended for individuals committed to teaching high school mathematics, physical sciences or biological sciences. KSTF is seeking individuals who have outstanding and current content knowledge; thus applicants should have a recent content degree (typically within the last 5-10 years). We are also seeking candidates who have the capacity and determination to commit to teaching as their primary career; the fellowship is not intended for those who have previously established a career (typically more than 5-10 years) in another field. The KSTF Teaching Fellowship is intended to support beginning high school science and math teachers. Individuals who have recently earned a secondary teaching credential (no earlier than January 1, 2013) or will earn their credential no later than September 1, 2014 are eligible to apply for the 2014 Fellowship.

Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship

Description: The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service in which they can help formulate, represent and implement U.S. foreign policy.  Each year, the Rangel Program selects 20 outstanding Rangel Fellows in a highly competitive nationwide process and helps support them through two years of graduate study, internships and professional development activities, and entry into the Foreign Service.  This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with financial need.  Fellows who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service entry requirements will receive appointments as Foreign Service Officers, one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available.

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Applicants must be seeking admission to enter graduate school in the fall of 2013 for a two-year program at a U.S. university. They can be in their senior year of their undergraduate studies, graduating by June 2013, or they can be college graduates. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.

Annie's Sustainable Agriculture Scholarships

Description: Annie's scholarship program assists undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies in Sustainable and Organic Agriculture.

Eligibility: Full time undergraduate or graduate students at accredited colleges and universities; must be focusing on classes in sustainable agriculture. International students may apply as long as they are studying at a U.S. school.

Kobe College Corporation-Japan Education Exchange Graduate Fellowship

Description: The KCC Japan Education Exchange Graduate Fellowships Program was established in 1996 to support qualified graduate students for research or study in Japan. The purpose of the fellowship is to support future American educators who will teach more effectively about Japan.
Deadline: February
Value: Between $25,000 and $30,000
Eligibility: Applicants must be graduate students who have passed their qualifying exams, been advanced to candidacy at their universities, and at the dissertation stage. There are no restrictions as to research topic, place of study in Japan, gender or age of the applicant. The travel grant may not be used for language training. Preference will be given to applicants who are already proficient in research level Japanese language. Research interests may include (but are not limited to) the arts, culture, education, language, history, journalism or business. Preference will be given to applicants to have not previously studied or lived in Japan.

Tillman Military Scholarship

Description: Funding for undergraduate and graduate degrees. Members of each class of Tillman Military Scholars represent a rich and diverse set of backgrounds, experiences and ambitions, and were selected based on strong leadership potential and a drive to make a positive impact on others through service.

Value: Each award amount is determined on a case by case basis, based on individual financial need and the strength of application in comparison to the overall pool. Average $11,000
