Herbie Smith was selected for the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) program through the University of Michigan. Selected students will work with active research groups at CERN, one of the world’s premier international laboratories. CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, is the site of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the birthplace of the World Wide Web.
The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program.
