"My professional goal is to renovate landscapes damaged by pollution and irresponsible development, a career that may help to offset the effects of deforestation and forest death that I have learned about in my undergraduate studies. To achieve this, I plan to attend the Masters of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program at Anhalt University of Applied Science in Bernburg, Germany, a small, unique learning environment with a focus on rehabilitating post-industrial areas in Europe."
Ms. Dellenbaugh's inspiration came from a Forest Ecology class, in which she learned that forest death is contributing exponentially to the amount of carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere every year and accelerating the process of global warming. This discovery sparked in her the desire to pursue a professional direction that would enable her to actively counteract these deleterious environmental effects. As a Landscape Architect, she can rehabilitate green space in urban and post-industrial areas, where it will have a significant social impact in addition to its environmental benefit.
