UNH FACULTY SENATE
MOTION # XVI-M3

on information in course syllabi

 

1.  Motion presenter:   Art Greenberg

2.  Date of Faculty Senate discussion:   10/31/2011 and 11/14/2011

3.  Rationale:

The Student Senate passed resolution XXXIII-R1 to encourage the Faculty Senate to ask all faculty members to include information relevant to educational requirements in their syllabi.   Since the university has an expanding number of lecturers, the orientation for the lecturers should include material to prepare them for this.  

4.  Motion:

The Faculty Senate endorses Student Senate Resolution XXXIII-R1 and thereby requests that all faculty indicate on their course syllabi when the course meets Inquiry, Discovery Program, or Writing Intensive Program course requirements.  This endorsement and request will be communicated by the senate chair to the provost, college deans, and all teaching faculty.

5.  Senate action:  passed with forty ayes, four nays and two abstentions.
