Change to the Faculty Senate Constitution and Bylaws regarding Library Committee Purview
1. Motion presenter: Agenda Committee
2. Date of Faculty Senate discussion: 3/9/09
3. Rationale:
The Faculty Senate passed a motion on 11/17/08 that matters pertaining to information technology be added to the Library Committee’s purview and that a member of the Library Committee serve each year on the Steering Committee for Information Technology (SCIT). This change in purview requires a corresponding change in the Faculty Senate Constitution and Bylaws.
4. Motion:
Item 6.b.6 of the Faculty Senate Constitution should be modified to state that “The Library Committee will concern itself with matters pertaining to the university library and information technology.” Item 5 of the Bylaws of the Faculty Senate should be modified to state that the corresponding administrators of the senate’s Library Committee are the Chief Information Officer and the Dean of the University Library.
