UNH FACULTY
SENATE
MOTION # XIII-M20
on spring semester starting one week later in January
1. Motion presenter: Barbara White
2. Date of Faculty Senate discussion: 4/6/09 and 4/27/09
3. Rationale:
The senior vice provost said that many people are researching the answers to the questions posed by faculty about a January term and that it would be helpful to know if the week removed from the spring semester (in senate motion XIII-M19) would be at the beginning or the end of the semester. The senators agreed that the spring semester should end no later than it currently does.
4. Motion:
The equal, fourteen week semesters will begin with the 2009/2010 spring semester and start one week later than usual in January.
5. Senate action: passed with twenty-one ayes, six nays and three abstentions.
6. Senate chair’s signature: Marco Dorfsman
Forwarded to: President Mark Huddleston, on May 6, 2009
Forwarded to: Provost Bruce Mallory, on May 6, 2009
Forwarded to: Lisa MacFarlane, on May 6, 2009
Forwarded to: Kathryn Forbes, on May 6, 2009
