UNH FACULTY SENATE
MOTION # VIII-M14
Associate of Arts Programs
1. Sponsoring committee: Academic Affairs Committee
2. Motion Presenter: Michael Kalinowski
3. Date of Faculty Senate discussion: May 3, 2004
4. Motion:
a. To support item #1 in the Conclusions and Recommendations in the Report of the Faculty Senate's Associate of
Arts Degree Task Force regarding the Associate of Arts, General Studies at UNH Manchester.
b. The Academic Affairs Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate take no action on the DCE Associate of Arts
Degree until the Academic Affairs Committee receives written recommendations from the administration for review.
The committee further recommends that no decision be made on this program until the Academic Affairs Committee
has had a chance to review administrative recommendations and forward its suggestions to the senate.
5. Rationale:
The Academic Affairs Committee was charged with reviewing the Report of the Faculty Senate's Associate of Arts
Degree Task Force and its conclusions and recommendations. A Strategic Planning Committee for DCE is completing
its work on other DCE issues; and there have been recent proposals made regarding CLL. It seems prudent at this
point to wait until there are specific administrative recommendations on DCE.
6. Senate Action: passed unanimously, on May 3, 2004
Senate Chair's signature: Tom Laue
Forwarded to: President Ann Hart, on May 25, 2004
Forwarded to: Bruce Mallory, on May 25, 2004
Forwarded to: Michael Kalinowski, on May 25, 2004
