DURHAM, N.H. – Continuing on last year's successful Thanksgiving and Winter break powerdown campaigns and building off the great energy and emissions savings from UNH's first annual Student Energy Waste Watch Challenge, the UNH Energy Task Force, UNH Energy Office, and UNH Office of Sustainability encourage all faculty, staff, and students to powerdown over the 2006 Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks!
Students - Continue your great energy savings from our Fall 2006 Student Energy Waste Watch Challenge!
Faculty and staff - If the students can do it, so can you!
Over Thanksgiving and winter breaks, turn off and unplug your computers, printers, fax machines, and other equipment and electronics - or turn off the power strip into which they are plugged. You’ll save energy, lower UNH's energy bill, and prevent greenhouse gas emissions!
Last year UNH saved over $20,000 in energy costs and prevented greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 30 cars from the road - all from powering down over Thanksgiving and Winter breaks!
As a Climate Protection Campus, UNH is committed to reducing its emissions of greenhouse gases, improving energy efficiency and conservation, and educating students, faculty, and staff about the relationship between energy choices and costs, climate change, and our economic and social well-being.
