Fall 2009 Energy Captains

Contact the Ecological Advocates NOW to volunteer to help out as an Energy Captain!

The Energy Captains are an essential component of the UNH Energy Waste Watch Challenge. The Captains will serve as the face of the UNH Energy Task Force in each residence hall or apartment complex competing in this campus-wide event. As Energy Captains they will:

Their efforts will increase awareness of the issues involved and generate excitement about the competition. More importantly their presence in each building has the potential to foster an increased acceptance of environmentally conscious behaviors. Peer-to-peer education has been identified as the most powerful tool to effectively increase awareness of energy and water usage and facilitate the adoption of behaviors that reduce consumption and waste.

Energy Captains will be given a lot of freedom in terms of how they choose to complete their tasks and are encouraged to use their strengths, skills and creativity to educate and motivate the residents of their building. Energy Captains are not expected to work alone, but can recruit other Captains or "deputies" to help them carry out their projects and help their building residents reduce waste.
