Why am I getting a free CFL?
UNH is committed to being a Climate Protection Campus that pursues a sustainable energy future through emissions reduction policies, practices, research, and education. As part of this commitment, the UNH Energy Task Force used funds raised at a student-organized Step It Up event at UNH in the spring of 2007 and matching funds from the University Office of Sustainability and the UNH Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration to purchase $3,000 worth of CFL's to give to students. In addition, UNH's Housing Office purchased 1,000 more CFLs to replace incandescent bulbs in built-in fixtures in residence halls.
CFL Information
- CFL's save 70% more energy and last 10 times as long as incandescent bulbs.
- The 13-watt CFL you will receive is equivalent to a 60-watt incandescent bulb.
