E-Mail Message From Karen H. Johannesson
I am currently an associate professor of geochemistry in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (our new name) at The University of Texas at Arlington. I currently live in Dallas, which for a New Englander like myself, is remarkably nice. After graduating from UNH, I attended Boston College, where I earned my M.S. in Geology and Geophysics. I then ventured west to Arizona State University, where I spent a couple of years going nowhere. I subsequently moved to Reno, Nevada, where I obtained my PhD in hydrology/hydrogeology from the University of Nevada. My PhD advisor was Dr. Berry Lyons, who was a professor at UNH when I was an undergraduate. Jo Laird advised me to consider Berry as a PhD advisor. Thanks again Jo! After graduating from the University of Nevada, I spent five years as a research scientist at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (I never even went to one basketball game). Subsequently, I took a position in 1998 as assistant professor of ocean, earth, and atmospheric sciences at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. In August of 2002 I accepted my current position as associate professor here at UTA. It was basically one of those deals I couldn't refuse that led me to Texas. My address, phone number, email address and web site are listed below.
Best wishes,
