Scientific research into climate change, and the biogeochemical cycles associated with it, is a major area of research by faculty members at the Univeristy of New Hampshire. Current research includes projects studying the latest Pleistocene deglaciation, Holocene climatic change recorded in ice cores and speleothems (stalagmites), trace gas and aerosol transport, and the biogeochemical cycling of important elements such as carbon and nitrogen.
Faculty and students at UNH have taken part in multidisciplinary research activities in climate change research in Antarctica, Nepal, Greenland and northern Canada.
