Damon Burt is a Research Scientist for the New England Water Treatment Technology Assistance Center. Mr. Burt is a Certified Wetland Scientist and Certified Professional in Sediment and Erosion Control (CPESC) and is the principal of a small environmental consulting company specializing in wetland permitting, wetland restorations, NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) stormwater inspections and compliance. He is involved with a number of WTTAC projects and currently working on Assessing Metal Oxide Coatings on Filter Media for Arsenic Removal.

Joseph Cunningham received his Master’s degree in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 2008, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Marine Biology from the University of New Hampshire in 2003. Prior to joining the Center, Mr. Cunningham worked as a field technician at the University of New Hampshire’s Bedrock Bioremediation Center and has worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services as a Coastal Water Quality Intern (2004) and Shellfish Program Intern (2005). Mr. Cunningham joined the Coastal Response Research Center in the fall of 2007, and provides scientific support for the center.

Peter Dwyer is a research engineer for the New England Water Treatment Technology Assistance Center. He holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Dwyer oversees pilot studies, analyzes results, and performs laboratory analyses.

James Houle is the Outreach Coordinator and Program Manager for the Stormwater Center. His responsibilities include development of outreach and education products, and supervising the Stormwater Center's growing body of research projects.

Mr. Houle holds an M.A. in Sustainable Development a B.S. in Molecular Biology and is currently enrolled in the Natural Resources & Earth Systems Science Ph.D. Program at UNH. He has over ten years of experience with water quality related issues in New Hampshire and is a certified professional in storm water quality (C.P.S.W.Q.).

Kathy Mandsager received her B.A. in Education, Psychology & Sociology from Wartburg College, Waverly, IA. Just prior to joining the Center Staff, she was the Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Research & Public Service at UNH where she coordinated the Undergraduate Research Conference and the Outreach Scholars Program. In September 2005, Ms. Mandsager joined the Center to assist in the numerous administrative and operational activities of the Center, such as RFP review processing and Workshop planning. One of her extracurricular passions is raising puppies for Canine Companions for Independence.

Colleen Mitchell received a B.A. in English from Nyack College in Nyack, NY and a Master's in Education from SUNY College at Plattsburgh. Before coming to the University of New Hampshire, she was the Systems Manager at Hospice of the North Country in upstate New York and the Assistant to the Director of Broadcasting at New Hampshire Public Television. Ms. Mitchell began working with the Environmental Research Group (ERG) in 1999 as the Program Coordinator for the Recycled Materials Resource Center. In 2002, she became the Communications Coordinator for ERG and all of its centers. As of July 2009, she divides her time among ERG, the Recycled Materials Resource Center and the Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping.

Timothy Puls rejoined the UNH Stormwater team in the spring of 2008 as the Site Facility Manager. His responsibilities include management of day-to-day field operations, maintenance of the field facilities, and assisting in the management and development of ongoing research projects. Tim worked as an engineering consultant in the private sector focusing on municipal infrastructure projects throughout southern New Hampshire from 2006-2008. Tim initially joined the UNH Stormwater Center while attending the UNH College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He worked as an undergraduate research assistant from 2005 through 2007.  During his time at UNH Tim was a member of Students Without Borders, a student chapter of Engineers Without Border – USA.  Through SWB Tim became involved in the development of sustainable agricultural systems and practices at the UNH Organic Garden.  He also worked with the YE Water Foundation in Jakarta, Indonesia developing a rainwater collection prototype as an alternative water supply for the cities poorest communities.  Tim graduated from UNH with a BS in Environmental Engineering: Municipal Processes in 2006.
