Where does apatite come from?

The apatite used in our demonstration project originates from Aurora, North Carolina and was mined by the PCS Phosphate corporation. The apatite being taken out of the ground here was deposited in the bottom sediments of an ancient ocean around 15 million years ago.

Other major sources of apatite in the U.S. are located in Florida and Idaho.

Most of this apatite deposit was chemically precipitated and fell to the ocean floor, but in addition many fossils and amazing skeletons from long extinct species may be found in the barrier material. These bones are also apatite and work very well as reactive barrier materials.
