Yes! The apatite based reactive barrier has been deployed on the Anacostia River in Washington D.C. over a 80'x100' test section. This barrier has been monitored since July, 2004.

The test site has shown that the thin barrier materials can be successfully deployed by either clam-shell bucket or through the use of geofabric mats constructed off-site.
Monitoring of the test areas have demonstrated the short-term success of building a reliable cap. No metals have migrated through the barrier materials. However, the test area also shows the importance of removing the source of contamination to the sediments, as new heavy metal contaminated sediments are being deposited on top of the cap.
