Yes.
The apatite barrier materials are reactive with the heavy metals that contaminate
many of our nations waterways. However, these contaminants seldom occur alone
and organic contaminants such as PCB's and PAH's are all too common. Combining
the reactive apatite barrier materials with other materials such as zero-valent
iron, swelling clays, or activated carbon sources allows for the creation of
a "super reactive" barrier, which can be customized to the problems
of a particular site and will block the migration of both heavy metal and organic
pollutants.
The apatite barrier material is compatible for capping with all of these other reactive materials and does not loose effectiveness when combined properly.
