The Environmental Science program constitutes
an excellent preparation for graduate programs in several areas
relating to the environment, depending on interest and preparation.
Students should consult with their advisor early, if their goals
include further study.
Employment opportunities for bachelor degree graduates
are excellent and include: environmental consulting firms; educational
facilities (e.g., science centers); environmental monitoring
laboratories (e.g., water treatment plants; Environmental Protection
Agency); government agencies (e.g. U.S. Geological Survey, Bureau
of Land Management, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Forest
Service), university and government research laboratories, and
non-governmental environmental organizations.
Also, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, including training and education needed, earnings, what workers do on the job, and more. Find out more about Environmental Scientists and Hydrologists.

of Natural Resources, EcoQuest provides highly motivated
students with the opportunity to engage in a unique multidisciplinary,
research-oriented field study program. Focus is on the
ecological, resource management, conservation and sustainability
issues important to the natural environment, economy, and
culture of New Zealand (full semester).
- International
Research Opportunites Program (IROP): IROP offers juniors
the opportunity to prepare for a summer abroad during the
academic year. Through IROP, you conduct preliminary research,
study the appropriate foreign language, and engage in cultural
orientation before you ever set foot on the plane.
- Research & Discover:
Join some of the nation’s top scientists at the Institute
for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space this summer for
a paid internship through the UNH-Goddard Joint Center for
the Earth Sciences. Right from the start, you will work in
tight collaborations with researchers who are recognized
as leaders in the national and international scientific community.
- Undergraduate Research
Opportunites Program (UROP): Whether through taking
a research-intensive course, working in one of the University's
many centers or institutes, or teaming up with a favorite
professor to pursue a mutual academic interest, the opportunities
to become involved in research abound for students of all
majors with UROP.
