June 24, 2009: David Rivard Wins Prize for Poetry

Prof. David Rivard has been awarded The Jerome J. Shestack Prize from the American Poetry Review. Two prizes, each worth $1,000, are annually awarded to two poets whose work has been published in The American Poetry Review during the previous calendar year, as judged by the Editors. Fourteen of David Rivard's poems were published in a special section of the American Poetry Review in the November/December 2008 issue. Past winners of the prize include John Ashbery, Robert Bly, Michael Burkard, Robert Creeley, Jack Gilbert, Jorie Graham, Brenda Hillman, Ann Lauterbach, Denise Levertov, Jane Miller, Adrienne Rich, Ira Sadoff, David St. John, Gerald Stern, James Tate, C. K. Williams, and Paul Zweig.
