We have established a departmental form for applicants to request financial aid. If you would like to be considered for any of the options below, please fill out the top portion, and in the appropriate spaces, indicate your first choice, second choice, etc. You may be eligible to apply for all forms of aid.  Return this form with your completed application to the Graduate School.

NOTE:  Our financial aid deadlines are earlier than Graduate School deadlines.  We require submission of financial aid applications by October 15th for spring semester and January 15th for fall semester. 

______  Teaching Assistantship with Tuition Waiver and Stipend:  Eligibility: Full-time student* in the MA, MFA, MST or PhD program.  Responsibilities:  Teach one section of English 401 per semester.  Benefits: For MA and MFA students, $13,500 stipend, for PhD students $14,000, and for both MA and PhD students full tuition waiver for the academic year (including one summer course).

______ Teaching Assistantship, ESL, with Tuition Waiver and Stipend: Eligibility: Full-time student* in MA, MFA, MST, or PhD program with competency  in ESL teaching. Responsibilities: Teach one section of either English 400 or 600 in the Fall; English 401A in the Spring. Benefits: For MA and MFA students  $13,500 stipend and full tuition waiver for the academic year (including one summer course).

______  Tuition Scholarship:  Eligibility: Full-time student* in the MA, MFA, or MST program. Benefit: Full tuition waiver for the academic year.

______  Elizabeth Jones Scholarship:  Eligibility: Full-time, unmarried student* in the MFA in Writing program.  Benefit: Amount of scholarship varies each academic year. Note: This scholarship may not be combined with a teaching assistantship, but may be combined with a tuition scholarship.

* The 2005-2007 Graduate Catalog defines full-time as follows: "Graduate students registered for 9 or more credits, Master's Continuing Research, or Doctoral Research are classified as full-time students. Students holding assistantship appointments are also considered full-time and must register for a minimum of 6 credits, Master's Continuing Research, or Doctoral Research each semester". 

Please note: The above financial aid is available to full-time students only.  For part-time students, the Graduate School provides a limited number of part-time tuition scholarships that are available on a competitive basis.  For more information and application forms, log on to www.gradschool.unh.edu or phone the Graduate School at 603 862-3000.
