- Serving as the Principal Investigator on two major remote sensing projects involving the Amazon and Cerrado regions funded by NASA’s Terrestrial Ecology and Carbon Cycle Programs. Also currently working as the Principal Science Investigator on a project examining Lyme Disease in NH funded by NASA’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR).
- Engaging with local schools in the development of a network and library of audio field recordings collected by students at the junior high level.
- Teaching students about the physics of sound, digital recording, digital signal processing, and audio editing; in addition, planning to teach them about different ecotypes and biomes from which some of the recordings originate while using some of the unique recorded sounds obtained from work done in the Amazon and Cerrado regions of Brazil.
- Utilizing the engagement project with local schools also as a means to encourage students to be outside, immersed in the natural world, gaining an appreciation and respect for the biological fauna and flora around them.
