- Working to engage the communities and various stakeholder groups in rural northeastern Oregon to learn about the change in working landscapes – how declining timber markets, increased amenity values, and exurbia migration has affected local livelihoods and ecology.
- Developing a multidisciplinary and integrative research framework that simultaneously examines social and ecological systems.
- Studying the impacts of land use change and how perceptions of risk from natural disturbances influence land use decisions.
- Working to integrate techniques, findings, and experiences into undergraduate teaching and research.
