- Studying ethnomusicological research on Cape Breton Island, Canada; current work focuses on local music and cultural sustainability for fifteen years.
- Writing a book, Talking New Orleans Music, based on a set of conversations with working musicians in New Orleans
- Serving as the humanities center director, oversee various programs, such as research fellowships, for UNH humanities faculty and the broader UNH community
