- Investigating Turkey’s emerging programs and policies aimed at promoting democracy in the Arab world after the Arab Spring
- Analyzing the diffusion of democratic norms through transnational advocacy networks: studying power and relationships among participants in democracy promotion transnational networks, deciphering which types of norms are being promoted by Turkish actors and which ones are accepted, rejected or modified by norm recipients
- Exploring whether or not democracy promotion activities have helped to boost Turkey’s soft power in the Arab world
- Examining the evolution of a bourgeoning norm in international politics called the “responsibility to protect” (R2P) and the role of the International Criminal Court in promoting R2P’s changes to current practices of humanitarian intervention
