- Creating and adapting tools that help researchers understand what happens in proof-based mathematics content courses at the undergraduate level.
- Creating tools to better link student’s understanding of mathematical content and proficiency with that content to classroom teaching in proof-based undergraduate courses as well as the motivation that the students develop to learn mathematics and succeed in their coursework.
- Describing how mathematicians come to understand definitions, teaching definitions and teach students to learn definitions in proof-based undergraduate mathematics classes.
- Describing the beliefs, goals and knowledge that shape mathematician’s teaching of proof-based undergraduate mathematics courses as a means to understand why lecture-teaching persists.
