Job Placement and Career Services

The teacher education program at UNH is proud of the employment record of its graduates. Since the five-year program's inception in 1974, nearly 90 percent of our intern graduates have secured positions in teaching or a closely related field. While we cannot guarantee employment to a teacher education graduate, our students have a fine record of employment. While many occupational forecasts are predicting that there will be a growing demand for teachers in the next decade, demand varies considerably with subject area, geographic location, and the local economy.

Services of the University Advising and Career Center include an on-campus recruiting program of 250-plus corporate, government, and social service organizations. Individual career counseling, group career planning, testing, and a computerized career decision making program are available for those involved in career planning. Workshops on resumé writing, job search strategy, and interviewing are also available. There is also a videotape/mock interview service.

UNH is a member of a statewide consortium which sponsors a job bulletin newsletter for educators, the Teacher Information Service (TIS). The TIS is produced throughout the "prime" job search period of May through August. This consortium also hosts an educators' job fair each spring.
