The Communities of Inquiry Conference highlights the valuable role of inquiry and inter-institutional partnerships (e.g., schools, universities, agencies) in professional and community development and reform. The conference serves as an opportunity for interested community-based professionals (education, health, housing, etc) to network with colleagues, share their work, and explore possible partnerships and projects.
Background:
Since 2003, the Teacher Education program at the University of New
Hampshire has hosted the Annual Teachers as Researchers Conference.
After nine successful years we changed the name in 2011 to be more
inclusive of the interdisciplinary inquiries?individual and
collaborative that many professionals/educators/community members are
doing in the name of enhancing human agency and possibilities for
young people and families in the communities they serve. Teacher
Research remains an important strand of the conference but we are
expanding the concept of ?teaching/learning? to include non-formal
education contexts (e.g., community centers, grassroots development
projects, etc).
