Pre-Trip Classes
Through active learning, large and small group work, and independent study, participants will learn the educational, geographical, historical, and cultural background of Belize. The classes are designed for building a sense of community and highlight a pedagogical, cross-cultural and sustainable perspective. Participants will design a project to integrate their personal interests and objectives with in-country activities.
In-Country Experience
During February vacation, participants will spend 9 days in Belize. Most of the experience will be in the Toledo or Stann Creek Districts. Participants will do an investigation based on their personal interests and classroom sharing in the US.
Post-Trip Classes
Follow-up sessions will guide participants in assessing and evaluating their experience in terms of their pre-trip objectives, current position, and future goals. Completion of the course work will satisfy University requirements for 4 graduate credits.
Course Leaders
All course leaders are experienced New Hampshire classroom teachers with first-hand knowledge of Belize and the environment in which we will be working.
