Welcome
Our mission in the Education Department is to broaden participation in schools in our increasingly complex and diverse society. Our faculty members engage with communities to conduct scholarship that increases our understanding of how schools can promote learning and well-being for every student. We examine the role of language, literacies and culture as integral in the process of teaching and learning.
Our faculty also prepares education professionals to meet the demands and needs of our communities through reflective practice and innovative technology. Graduates from our program assume roles of responsibility and leadership in PreK-12 schools and classrooms, community agencies, colleges and universities, and in school administrative offices. They are prepared to meet the challenges they will encounter throughout their careers as educators.
Please take a few moments to browse our website. I hope you will find a way to participate in our community through taking course, enrolling in a program or connecting with a colleague. For those who are taking an initial step toward becoming an educator, I invite you to make a difference. Teach!
