Frequently Asked Questions:

Who is eligible to apply for funding through GATE CITY?

Any educator in the Nashua School District. Priority will be given to secondary teachers in STEM content areas and elementary teachers who agree to focus on STEM content for their course assignments.

 

What is the time commitment for the program?

The program will take five consecutive university semesters to complete (see timeline). The first cohort will begin in January 2013. Each semester, participants will complete one course, which will follow a traditional graduate schedule, meeting three hours a week for twelve weeks. Participants should plan to spend 4-6 hours a week completing  required readings and assignments.

 

Are there any upfront costs to participants?

No, the grant will cover tuition at the in-state continuing education rate, , related university fees, and the budgeted cost of required textbooks and curriculum materials.

 

Will I earn graduate credits?

Yes, each course is equivalent to one graduate class and worth three UNH graduate credits.
