"Live, Learn, & Teach was by far the most influential
course I took while pursuing my MED in Elementary
Education. It was a very demanding program, but well
worth the time and effort. It gave me a chance to
work closely with experienced educators as well as
with aspiring teachers like myself. The program also
helped to expel some of the common perceptions and
myths associated with the education field. I came
away from the experience with a feeling that I could
make a difference."

LLT 1999 "LLT intensively exposes its participants to the
current trends in education with an underlying theme
of experiential education. The experience enabled me
to work, reflect and share with teachers who are
working in the trenches, while interacting with other
eager students from diverse backgrounds. LLT provided
practical resources and techniques that I continue to
use. "

"I grew more in these seven weeks than I have throughout most of my entire
professional career. This was undeniably the most powerful learning experience
I've had ever! I highly recommend Live, Learn and Teach not only to those
interested in exploring teaching for the first time, but also to those already
teaching who wish hone their skills.
I am returning to my first full year of teaching feeling energized, confident
and with a renewed commitment to my students, my community and myself. Thank
you LLT!"
Alex MacPhail
"Live, Learn and Teach was the most profound experience I had in my
preparation to become a teacher. At the end of LLT, I knew without a
doubt I wanted to teach, but more than that, I had experienced many of
the things that are at the heart of my teaching practice to this day-
the importance of knowing my learners, incorporating student voice and
choice in my curriculum and strategies to develop a classroom community.
I've always felt I would have been a very different teacher without my
LLT experience- I probably would have recreated my own educational
experience in the classroom rather than reconsidering that very teacher
centered model."
Todd Bucci "If it weren't for LLT I don't think I would be teaching right now. Without having to enroll full time in a graduate program, LLT provided me with an insight into the teaching profession. From planning and executing curriculum to classroom management, this program gives you an invaluable experience that you cannot get anywhere else.
If you think teaching might be the profession for you, but you want to be 100% sure before you commit yourself, then there is no better way to find out than to do LLT. Regardless of whether you become a teacher or not you will not regret this amazing experience known as LLT."
Britt Williams
"I was in sales (and miserable) when I started thinking about becoming a
teacher. I heard about a program called Live, Learn and Teach that combined
instruction with hands-on classroom experience. It sounded like the perfect
program to find out if teaching would be the right career for me so I signed
up. LLT has been extremely influential in my life. I have been teaching
elementary school for 6 years, and the best preparation I received for the
classroom came from my experience in Live, Learn and Teach. Just today I
led my third grade students through a teamwork initiative that I learned
during that summer. I also learned about the different ways that students
learn, how to manage a classroom, and how to bring the community into the
school."
David Williams
"I first became aware of LLT when my wife took the course. Through her
involvement, I met an incredible group of caring, intelligent, passionate
people who were making their first, challenging foray into teaching. I was
convinced that I had to try this program! I did so, two years later, and the
effect on my teaching career (and my life) has been profound. There is no
better way to enter the profession. I look back on LLT as the root of all
that I value in my teaching philosophy and practice."

"I found the Live, Learn, and Teach Program to be a
"real world" approach to the current day classroom and exposure to
all that one encounters when dealing with today's youth. A
wonderful experiential learning experience! Thank you for everything!!"

“L.L.T. Rocks. With over thirty years of time to fine tune and get it right, LLT runs
a tightly knit program. Even so, what impressed me most was how well the program was orchestrated in accordance with its teaching philosophy. For me, that kind of honest approach helped make the entire learning experience one that has carried over into my teaching year after year.”

"Coming from a background graphic design, LLT was a refreshing taste of the real world and what really counts - people. LLT provided me the opportunity to feel that I could make a difference in the world through our children. Learning how to orchestrate experiences that made students solve problems and interact with the world around them was difficult at first. But after seeing the results, I knew that I had to be a teacher and teach this way. It is now so rewarding to see students link the skills that they learn at school to ones they need to survive in the real world. I feel more confident knowing why I am teacher and I couldn't have done it without LLT."

"LLT was the best summer I've had to date. Meeting so many different people, and working wiht them expanded my world in ways I never thought possible. I pushed myself so hard that summer, and having a network to fall back on saved me -- but if I hadn't pushed, I'd never have gotten all that I did out of the program. Thanks to everyone."

"I did LLT in the summer of '85. Though I taught high school for only three years, the lessons I learned through LLT have helped me throughout my professional life as a community development specialist, not to mention as a coach, parent, etc."

I am currently teaching English/Outdoor Education at an alternative school in Tilton, NH called the Life Centered Learning Institute. We have mostly highschool students here including both day students and those who have been placed resdentially in the Becket Family of Services at either Mount Prospect Academy or in East Haverhill.
The LLT program is still my fondest academic memory from my extended studying at UNH, dating back to 1992. Some day I hope to be a good enough teacher to come back as an Advisor.
