"I was in sales (and miserable) when I started thinking about becoming a teacher. I heard about a program called Live, Learn and Teach that combined instruction with hands-on classroom experience. It sounded like the perfect program to find out if teaching would be the right career for me so I signed up. LLT has been extremely influential in my life. I have been teaching
elementary school for 6 years, and the best preparation I received for the classroom came from my experience in Live, Learn and Teach. Just today I led my third grade students through a teamwork initiative that I learned
during that summer. I also learned about the different ways that students learn, how to manage a classroom, and how to bring the community into the school."

Phase 3: Summer Learning Practicum
Participants now begin to implement the curricula developed during design week for area youngsters arranged in multi-level groups: elementary grades, middle school, and high school during the next five weeks. As summer learning progresses, participants will grow in their ability to develop and teach curriculum, as they reflect on successes and failures.
Frequent observations and conferences with team advisers provide support and assistance. Throughout the program staff and guest lecturers conduct workshops which connect the theory and principles of required reading with pedagogy.
