DEFENSIVE DRIVING

The Live, Learn and Teach Program provides vans for you to use for field trips with your summer school classes. To drive a van, you must have a defensive driving certificate. Your name has been listed with the UNH Transportation Department as an LLT participant, and we will pay for the cost of this course if you take it at UNH (while there are other locations that offer courses in defensive driving, in order for LLT to pay, you MUST take the UNH course). You should call and arrange to take the course before Wilderness Week. Once you complete the course, the UNH Transportation Department will send a copy of your Defensive Driving Certificate directly to us.

Call 862-2328 to register for Defensive Driving.  It is important to register as soon as possible since space is limited. Make sure the Transportation Office knows that you are an LLT participant. If you experience any problems registering for Defensive Driving, call Lisa Wilder at 862-2381.

Schedule: All courses are conducted at the UNH Visitor's Center by the UNH Greenhouses and run from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

FIRST AID & CPR CERTIFICATION

You will be in a variety of situations with adults and children this summer, often outside and involved in physical activities. It is extremely important that you have appropriate training to handle emergency situations. First aid certification is renewable every 3 years, while CPR is required annually. The American Red Cross offers first aid and CPR (adult and child) training in the local area, please plan to attend a class prior to Wilderness Week. Nearly every community is associated with a Red Cross Chapter or has certified instructors.

The cost for both First Aid and CPR tends to run around $100 -- $150. Check with your health insurance carrier since many will reimburse you for health education courses.   Please mail us copies of your CPR and First Aid certificates when you receive them.
