New job opportunity with the Food Recovery Network (FRN)!
The Food Recovery Network (FRN) is a national student-led 501(c)3 nonprofit fighting food waste and hunger by recovering surplus food from college campuses and surrounding communities and donating it to people in need. Since September 2011, FRN has spread to 23 colleges, recovered over 166,000 pounds of food, and has established itself as one of the fastest-growing student movements in the country.
FRN is hiring a Director of Communications & Member Support to help lead the national team. This position is responsible for ensuring students have the support and resources they need as they develop established FRN chapters on their campuses. This staff member will also coordinate press coverage of FRN and its chapters, manage FRN’s social media accounts and e-newsletter, and maintain consistency in FRN’s messaging to the general public. This position reports to FRN’s Executive Director, Ben Simon.
The position will be approximately 40 hours per week with flexible hours required, located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus just outside Washington, DC. Salary is $24,000 with generous benefits.
Ideally, the candidate would begin work August 6, 2013 to prepare for the upcoming 2013-2014 academic year, but start date is negotiable.
