Our small off-grid permaculture/biodynamic/organic CSA farm is looking for a season long crew manager from March-October of 2013. We are offering a per month stipend plus room and board for the right candidate.

Who we are:

We are a small organic off grid farmstead and educational center located on the north Oregon coast. We are dedicated to growing healthy food for our community, producing our own renewable energy, building with salvaged natural materials and empowering others to live sustainably. We offer a wide variety of fresh vegetables through our 75 member seasonal CSA membership and farmers market stand in Manzanita OR. Educational tours and workshops on organic farming, homesteading skills, renewable energy, permaculture design, natural building and medicinal herbs have been offered on the farm and as we enter or 5th season we are also adding farm stays to the mix.

About the Farm:
We live on 5 acres about 9 miles from the Oregon coast in the beautiful watershed carved by the North Fork of the Nehalem river. Surrounded by the coastal mountains and rainforest we have created an off grid homestead and permaculture farm to demonstrate self sufficiency and sustainable living. In addition, we lease 2 acres of farmland within walking distance of our homestead where we operate a 75 member organic vegetable CSA and grow food for chefs, wholesale accounts and a farmers market. We like to think our farm offers both a homesteading experience and a look at small commercial veggie production- the best of both worlds! In addition to veggies we try our hand at some berry production, small poultry raising and beekeeping. We host one full time farm crew manager and 3 WWOOFers during our season on farm. We are four people (two couples) sharing land and each providing our own talents and business models for success. What we are looking for:
Starting March 2013- ending October 2013

A positive and hardworking person with a passion for plants and growing food. We are asking for at least one full time working season of experience on a diversified vegetable production farm and a good working knowledge of organic CSA agriculture. You must have experience in leadership and be comfortable running a team of 3-4 folks in the field. We are looking for someone who is interested in pursuing organic agriculture or related fields in his or her future. We want a self starter with good organizational and communication skills who enjoys being around people and living communally. We want someone who is familiar with farm commercial production and knows how to make a deadline. Experience in biodynamics a plus! We also ask that you be a non smoker, have your own vehicle and do not come with pets.

We are offering a private furnished room in our farm house and organic meals. We also are including a stipend of $700-1,000 per month depending on your level of farm experience and hours in the field.
