The Main Street-West project includes roadway reconstruction and resurfacing, development of sidewalks/multi-use path and bicycle lanes along Main Street (west of rail tracks) and NH 155A approaching UNH campus and downtown. The project will create safe bike and walking routes from UNH core campus to West Edge neighborhood.

Construction for this project is anticipated to start in fall 2009 and be completed by fall 2010. The estimated full project cost including design, right of way and construction is approximately $850,000. The University and Town of Durham will share the balance of required local match funds used in planning and design. In addition, the University will be reconstructing adjacent roadway sections using University funds.

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), UNH-Durham has been offered 100% federal funding for the construction of this project, estimated at $722,000.
