A n d r e  L.  G a r r o n

Class of 1986

During his years at UNH, Andre Garron played running back on the football team and was a three-year starter for the Wildcats.  He was voted co-captain of the UNH football team in 1985.  He graduated from UNH in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Development from the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. After graduating, he signed a free agent contract to play professional football for the Kansas City Chiefs for two years.  After his stint with the Chiefs, Andre and his wife Cindy moved back to New Hampshire in May of 1988. 

In July 1988, he was hired by the town of Goffstown, New Hampshire, as its first full-time town planner. In 1994, he earned a Master of Science degree in Community Economic Development from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University). After an 11-year career in Goffstown, Andre left to become Londonderry’s Community Development Director and has been in that position since December of 1999.

Over his ten-year tenure with Londonderry, his office was able to facilitate over three million square feet of new or expanded commercial and industrial developments, adding eight million dollars of tax revenue for the town and creating over 2,600 jobs.  In 2005, Andre was named Community Planner of the Year by the New Hampshire Planners Association.

Andre coaches high school and youth football with his brother Arnold Garron (WSBE Class of ‘84).  His youth football teams have won state championships in 2004 and 2007.

Andre married and his college sweetheart Cindy (WSBE Class of ‘86), have been married 22 years. They have two children, Andre Jr. (UNH Class of 2011) and Jordan, a first-year high school student.  In his spare time, Andre enjoys motorcycling, fishing and camping.

 

G a e l l e  G o r g u e s

Class of 2003

Ms. Gaelle Gourgues earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire and her masters degree from Boston College.

She has spent the last ten years working with the college student population in her capacity as counselor, academic and research program coordinator, and mentor at the University of New Hampshire.

At Boston College, she currently holds the position of counselor for the McNair Program. She has assisted high school students in preparing for and transitioning into college.

Gaelle looks forward to furthering her studies in higher education and administration with a focus on student affairs. She plans to continue working with the low-income, first-generation and under-represented groups in the college population in order to facilitate their successful collegiate and post-graduate careers.

In the area of the arts, Gaelle is an accomplished dancer, trained in ballet, liturgical, modern, and ballroom dance art forms.

 

G l e n d o w l y n  H o w a r d

Graduate Class of 2005

Glendowlyn (Lyn) Howard is currently a technical program manager at IBM Corporate Information Office Headquarters, where she manages technological and innovative projects that help develop, demonstrate and advance IBM’s green data center technologies.  Prior to her current assignment, she held a variety of leadership and managerial positions including facilities engineer, industrial engineer, quality engineering manager, master production planner and supply chain program manager. 

Her corporate citizenship has been demonstrated through her active participation in IBM’s Black Network New York (BNNY) and Employee Alliance for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Empowerment (EAGLE) diversity network groups, in addition to her role as an IBM Club Director, her participation in recruiting activities, and her ongoing mentorship of new hires and junior employees.

Glendowlyn’s diverse interests are realized through her membership on the board of the Community Experimental Repertory Theatre, her singing, her board membership and presidency of the Mid-Hudson Camerata Chorale, her volunteer work for Princeton Alumni Schools Committee and her work on National Engineers Week programs.  Since returning to New Hampshire, she has been a ballot clerk in Durham, a UNH Pathways program mentor and a member of the Whittemore MBA Club board of directors where she coordinated a team to participate in the Seacoast United Way Day of Caring.

Glendowlyn grew up in Durham, New Hampshire. She holds a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering and Architecture from Princeton University, an M.S.E. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an M.B.A. from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

She lives with her partner in the seacoast area of New Hampshire where she enjoys cycling, golf, gardening and taking long walks with her Rhodesian Ridgeback dog. 

        

                 J e s s i c a   J o h n s o n

Class of 2004

Jessica Johnson graduated from UNH with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology.

While at UNH, she was the Business Manager for the Diversity Support Coalition, a residence hall assistant, an orientation leader for First-Year Programs and a CONNECT mentor.  Jessica also worked at the Affirmative Action Office and participated in the UNH McNair Program.

After her UNH experience, she continued her education to earn a Juris Doctorate from William and Mary School of Law.  While at William and Mary, Jessica was a member of the Black Law Students Association, a member of the Student Bar Association and staff at the William and Mary Equal Opportunity Office.  Jessica also studied international law in Madrid, Spain and co-founded the William and Mary Children’s Advocacy Law Society.

Currently, she works in Denver, Colorado as an attorney specializing in litigation.

She also volunteers for the Boys and Girls Club of America in Metro Denver.

Class of 2003

Sangita Jhaveri graduated cum laude from UNH with a B.A. in Financial and Managerial Economics. While at UNH, she was the president and founder of the Lotus Indian Dance Troupe, a CONNECT counselor, an active member of the Indian Student Association and a participant and panelist for the Discover UNH program. At UNH, she received the Arts Builds Back Community Award for outstanding outcomes in working with the Lotus Indian Dance Troupe.

Sangita worked as an Upward Bound Counselor. She assisted high school students who were potential first-generation college students and who were also from low-income backgrounds.  She tutored them in the biology and Spanish language.

 After graduation, Sangita was selected to be part of the Financial Leadership Development Program at BAE Systems.  Later, she worked in pharmaceutical sales for Pfizer, earning numerous sales awards. During her time at Pfizer, she was actively involved in the Arthritis Foundation.

 In addition to working at Pfizer, Sangita has continued to explore her true passion of Indian Dance, and she teaches at Springstep in Medford, Massachusetts, and at a studio in Wakefield. She was recently featured in the Boston Herald and the Wakefield Observer for her entrepreneurial vision in introducing Indian dance to New England communities.

Sangita is currently a volunteer of the Young Alumni Volunteer Association in Boston and, through this organization, has volunteered for the Center for Women’s Enterprise, WGBH, and the Cambridge Center for Families. 

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Jennifer Kilson-Page received her bachelor's degree in psychology and women's studies from the University of New Hampshire and a masters degree in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Her career has been in the field of higher education where she has worked to address diversity issues.  At Simmons College in Boston, she served as the Assistant Director of Admissions and Coordinator of African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American (AHANA) Recruitment. As the Coordinator for African American Alumnae Affairs, she developed a recruitment program to increase AHANA student enrollment and established an association of African American alumnae.  At Lesley College, she served as the Director of Cross-College Programming and as Assistant Dean of Students. As the Director of Retention Services at the Higher Education Information Center in Boston, she directed programs to increase the retention and graduation rates of Boston Public School graduates, and she created bridge programs between secondary and postsecondary educational institutions.  During her outreach work, she became the Associate Executive Director of the Boston Higher Education Partnership (BHEP), an agency that works with 28 college and university presidents partnering with the Boston Public Schools to enhance the quality of education for K-16 students. She also served as the Multicultural Advisor at Regis College, in Weston, Massachusetts. Presently, she is a diversity initiatives consultant at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Simmons College.

In her community, she has worked for the Brookline Public Schools as the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Driscoll School Diversity Committee and was Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Brookline Public Schools Town-Wide Diversity Committee. She is a member of the Public Schools Equity Project and a board member at RESPOND, Inc., a battered women's shelter in Somerville, and is a member of proposal review committees for the Brookline Community Foundation and EdVestors in Boston.

The greatest joy in her life is her family. She and her husband, Phillip Page, have three children, Jacob, Rhiana and Maya Kilson Page.

Class of 1979

Sarah Clarke Libbey is a 1979 graduate of UNH with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology. She is the president of Fidelity Charitable Services. She is also president of Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, a donor-advised fund and the third largest public charity in the United States.

Sarah began her career at Fidelity Investments in 1981 as a sales representative and has served in many product and distribution roles over 28 years.  In 2002, She was named Senior Vice President of Fidelity Portfolio Advisory Services and from 2004 to 2007 served as Chair of the Board of Trustees and President of Fidelity Personal Trust Company. 

Outside of work, Sarah has devoted volunteer hours to fundraising to support building education and community sustainability in Santa Maria Tzejà, Guatemala.

Donald H. C. Libbey received his UNH Bachelor’s degree in political science in 1979 and his Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in Boston in 1997.  Don was a founding partner of a litigation law firm in Boston, and is now a solo practitioner with a concentration in business and real estate litigation in Needham, Massachusetts. He has extensive experience with small- and medium-sized businesses, and his entrepreneurial business experience includes participation in the early 1990s in several joint-venture development projects with business entities and individuals in the Czech Republic.  In 2006, Sarah and Don established the Sarah C. Libbey ’79 and Donald H. C. Libbey ’79 Endowed Fund for Science Diversity.  The Fund provides scholarship assistance to students studying in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics disciplines of the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture or the College of Engineering and Physical sciences.
